A God-Given Vision To Build a Log Church
The Immediate Need
Purchasing the property is the most immediate need. Direct donations to the non-profit organization called Trails End Log Church, grants, and several crowd-funding campaigns will provide the needed funds. Read below about the plans and how you can help.
Trails End Log Church
For the 2 weeks after the initial prayer time, Joe could not sleep nor think of anything else. As he continued in prayer, God gave him details of the interior and exterior design and size for the log church. Joe has been told, “This will be the largest log church in the hemisphere”.
Joe found a perfect 8.5 acres for the log church in Oregon City, Oregon. The owner is asking
$2.5 million for the property.
Here is the fascinating story behind Trails End Log Church:
How it Came About
It Started in Prayer
On November 1, 2006, Joe Wardlow’s wife, Linda, left for a Bible study at 8:30 a.m. Later that morning, Joe decided to read his Bible and spend some time in prayer.
After reading several chapters in Proverbs, he knelt to pray. Joe asked the Lord to forgive all his sins, including his attitude and sinful thoughts.
There is More to Pray About
Joe realized he needed to go deeper, saying to himself, “What do I need to pray about?” Soon he realized he had never really given thanks to the Lord for his life. Starting from his childhood, he went through his life, thanking God and giving God the glory for the ups and downs in his life.
Praise ensued, moving Joe to ask God to “forgive me for not having brought more souls to Him over the years”, as Joe explains it. “I also regretted and asked forgiveness for years when I wasn’t active in a church and working for the Lord.”
Build Me a Church
Then Joe asked God, “In the time I have left on earth, what can I do to serve you?”
Joe says he felt the Lord come into the bedroom where he was kneeling by the bed and heard him softly say, “Build me a church.”
Joe told the Lord he did not know how to build a church building, telling him “I can’t even hold a hammer or a nail right”. God told him, “I will show you what to do.”
Where Do I Build It?
Joe asked where is this church was to be built. He heard God say to “Build it on Beavercreek Road in Oregon City.”
Joe naturally asked what the church building was supposed to look like. He saw a dome and a log, realizing it was to be a log church.
How Big Should it Be?
Joe asked how large this house of worship was to be and heard “to seat 800”.
“That’s a lot of people, Lord,” Joe said, “Where are they going to come from?” God’s answer was, “When the doors open, it will be full.”
How Do We Pay for It?
Joe asked how much this church was going to cost, but it wasn’t very clear, but he knew it would be several million. “Lord I only have a couple of dollars on me, how is this church to be paid for?” He told him:
- “Send out 500 letters to corporations.”
- “Go online and ask every Christian in the United States and throughout the world to help raise funds for this church building.”
